Homemade Perogies

IMG_3607

My girlfriend Lise and I had been all talk and no walk for months when we kept saying we wanted to make homemade cabbage rolls and perogies. Both recipes were easy, however they were both monotonous and time-consuming so we knew it would only be fun if we did it together. So finally one night we Continue reading

One Pot Tomato Basil Pasta

Ã

It’s officially the last day of the September long weekend….. can you believe it?! Since no one should be slaving over dinner on the last day of a long weekend…. treat yourself to this no-fail pasta dish! My girlfriend made this for us one night after seeing it on Pinterest and it truly is a One Pot Wonder. Continue reading

Vegetarian Pad Thai

Happy Tuesday everyone! I would have posted this recipe last night but the thunderstorm knocked out our power. I don’t know what it is about a power outage that excites me but it gets me every time. Maybe it’s a combination of having to temporarily resort back to a Amish lifestyle or the fact that storms are a rare occurrence where we live (when they do happen, they usually last all of 10 minutes.) My hubby and I were organizing our filing cabinet and all of a sudden we found ourselves in the dark…… not what you’re thinking. Continue reading

Buffalo Chicken Man-wiches

IMG_3558

After a productive day today I am ready for some resting and relaxing tonight. I spent all afternoon yesterday and this morning working with my grandma to finish re-covering my glider chair! She is such a great seamstress so with her guidance and expertise, I am soooo happy with the results! I can’t wait to post pictures!

Then after some daunting errands, returns and a good ol’ stop at Walmart I treated myself to a float on the lake with my girlfriend Lise this afternoon. Now I plan on making an easy dinner Continue reading

Shrimp and Feta Pasta

IMG_3441

You wouldn’t think it’s almost summer with the weather we have been having for the past few days. I’m not complaining because I’ve always liked cloudy and rainy days to break up the heat. So when the weather is a little cooler, I’m happy to change up the menu and make some comfort food (or that could be the prego in me talking) Continue reading

Banana Layer Cake

IMG_3378

This is hands down my favourite banana recipe to make! I got the recipe from my mom and I think it was originally called Banana Crater Cake. Now I don’t know about you… but I’m not necessarily tempted to make or eat a dessert that associates itself with what my thighs might look like after eating a piece. So I’ve taken the liberty to rename it Banana Layer Cake. Continue reading

Healthy Beef Stroganoff

I hope you are all having a great week! One more work day and it’s the long weekend!! I really hope the sun continues to shine so we can head out for at least one day of camping! Nothing is more relaxing to me then a weekend spent lounging by a lake with a good book. No traffic, no driving, no errands, no cleaning, just the sounds of nature and fresh air. There’s something about getting out of the city that seems to bring me back to a more relaxed, humble and happy state of mind. Less to do, no stress and some good ol’ fashioned camping food. Speaking of old-fashioned meals, this beef dish is a typical meat and potatoes kind of meal… Continue reading
