Refreshing Iced Drinks

IMG_3662

It has been HOT HOT HOT the past few days and there’s no sign of it letting up for another few days. Summer is in full force! So what can you do to stay cool on those blistering days?! Stay hydrated! I can’t stress enough the importance of drinking lots and lots of fluids, especially in the heat. A proper water intake helps in controlling your weight and appetite, it’s great for your muscles, joints, skin, digestion, and it aids in your body’s natural filtration system to rid your body of toxins. So keep liquids with you at all times and don’t deprive yourself of that precious H2O.

Since I’m pregnant and it’s summer, it feels like everyone has been telling me “Oh my gosh! You’re going to be sooooo hot this summer! That sucks being pregnant in the heat In all honesty, I’m getting really tired of hearing it all the time…haha. First of all, I love being pregnant. Second, I can confidently eat a big lunch, slap on my bikini and I don’t need to suck in my stomach all afternoon. And lastly….. isn’t everyone hot when it’s 34 degrees?! You show me one person whose not sweating like a pig in this weather and then I’ll start my own pity party. But until then…. my favorite way to stay cool on a hot afternoon is reading a good book on my deck with a cool refreshing drink. Since alcohol is off my menu, and I can only drink so many litres of water before I need to switch it up, here are some of my favorite AND healthy refreshing drinks. So if you find yourself craving a 500 calorie frappuccino loaded with sugar and fake fruit puree….. turn your sun-kissed cheek and make your own healthy drink! Cheers!
