This weekend I brought my potted oregano plant indoors, as well as one of my outdoor plants. I have to be very careful that they don’t become infested with any bugs, especially aphids. Aphids are sneaky and will breed like crazy if left unnoticed. They can completely destroy your flowers, vegetables and plants before you know it. There are many species and colors of aphids. They come in shades of green, red, brown, black and yellow. So check your plants regularly for bugs.
Since I didn’t want to use any chemical ridden pesticides, I decided to make my own organic mixture. This can be used indoors as well as outdoors. All you need is two ingredients. Mix 2 tsp of mild dish detergent or laundry soap to a bottle of luke warm water. That’s it. Spray your plants (especially under the leaves) and the soap washes off the aphid’s protective waxy coating and causes dehydration.
I chose Greenworks because it’s an even more organic choice but any dish soap will work. Just make sure to thoroughly wash your plants before eating. Hope you like it!
